Maggie Cashman
Maggie Cashman graduated from the National College of Art and Design in 2008. She worked as a workshop facilitator for Workhouse Studios and as an Arts Facilitator for the Department of Education, Youth Services and St. John of God Services. In 2010 the Bank of Ireland  commissioned, ‘120 Reasons to Be Cheerful’ and in 2008 she was commissioned by the Office of Public Works.

“To look and look again is a natural reaction to being partially sighted. Instead of trying to see as everyone else sees I now give free expression to my own skewed vision. I make work which allows for individual interpretation of both the object and the imagery within the piece.  My work is a contemporary interpretation of the traditional art of image making in glass. The process begins as a series of images taken on either phone or digital camera. I then make work in mixed media including inks, pastels and layered papers. These paintings are then interpreted in glass pieces which vary in size and complexity. The layering and fusing process allows the work to be viewed in a number of different ways. This echoes my belief that multiple perspectives apply to any given situation. My work is continuing to develop and change and I am now exploring the possibilities of translating flat panels into 3D objects . The aim of this new work is to show movement in the round and it will be on view in the next six months”  Maggie Cashman.

Following on from a number of commissions from clients for one off pieces, they have launched a furniture design company called 3CP Design, debuting with the Snowdrop light. http://www.carsonandcrushell.com/SNOWDROP/lamp_snowdrop.html
