Four awards will be presented on the day:

Entry to the awards is via a dedicated webpage, www.womenmeanbusiness.com/awards where women can either nominate themselves or a businesswoman that they admire. The closing date for entries is 31st July 2009. A shortlist of entries will be generated and an independent judging panel will select the winner in each category.

Speaking at the launch, Rosemary Delaney, Managing Director of WMB Publishing, said, “In the climate that we find ourselves in, we need true leaders, visionaries that are prepared to put their neck on the line – to take bold steps that others wouldn’t dare dream of. Yes, it is the positive thinking true grafters with sheer determination and desire that will attract change and change for the better in our society and in our world. These women build small and large companies – they employ others; they motivate and inspire; they lead by example.  Now more than at any other time, we need businesswomen to be vocal, to take charge. Through the O2 Women Mean Business annual Conference & Awards we seek to acknowledge the fine work these women do across all disciplines to guarantee not only their own success but the success of those around them”.

The day-long event will include some unique speakers to motivate and inspire Ireland’s businesswomen including founder of Coffee Republic, Sahar Hashemi; Entrepreneur and star of the Irish ‘Dragon’s Den’ Sarah Newman; Michael O’Doherty, Co-founder of Plexus Bio-Energy; and Marian Corcoran, Head of Management Consulting & Integrated Markets in Ireland for Accenture.

Danuta Gray, CEO of Telefónica O2 Ireland, Title Sponsor of the event, comments, “O2 is delighted to be associated with WMB for a third consecutive year. Irish businesses continue to benefit from the fresh ideas, dedication, and leadership that women can bring. In recognising their achievements, these awards are encouraging even more women to succeed in their chosen field”.
