Calling All Female Leaders

Calling All Female Leaders

Jane Williams will be the keynote speaker on “Gaps in women leaders' skills - the role for tailored responses” on Monday August 13th at 6.30pm at Mount Herbert Hotel, Herbert Rd, Sandymount, Dublin 4 (please note the change of venue to the hotel near Lansdowne Rugby ground)

A group of businesswomen have come together with the support of Dublin City Enterprise to set up a network focused on meeting the skill gaps of businesswomen in Dublin, both those running their own businesses and executives in larger companies. Funding of up to 80% is available for training and networking events over a two year period through Skillnets. This information session is an excellent opportunity to consider the reasons why an approach tailored to women makes sense in many instances and to find out how the network will work in practice. The keynote speaker Jane Williams of The Sia Group will draw on her experience and research to discuss the merits of assessing skill needs of women leaders separately and providing tailored responses within the context of an overall skills development framework. Jane has excellent insights into what it takes for women to succeed both as managers in large organisations and as managers of their own businesses, from her involvement in The Future Leaders Programme (a programme which is specifically designed to support women in developing their leadership potential within their working life), from her research into gender and decision making, from her involvement in a Forfás committee advising the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment on developing entrepreneurship (including female entrepreneurship) and from her own considerable experience in business. Diane Dignam of Skillnets will provide an overview of the Skillnets programme and the benefits to members of participating. There will also be a speaker from an existing network to talk about their experience. Places are limited so please register in advance by emailing Pauline Logan at network@dceb.ie or calling her at 087 979 8430. If you cannot attend but would like more information about the proposed network, please contact Pauline Logan at the above email address/ telephone number. ************************************ Keynote speaker profile: Jane Williams is the Managing Director of The Sia Group.
