Calling all Fashion Designers in Dublin
Building on the success of the inaugural Fashion BreakThrough that took place between April 25 and 30 2009, the second in this biannual series of events launches at the end of August 2009.
Fashion BreakThrough is all about realising that Ireland’s future lies in forging strong new communities of ideas and of talent; and in supporting young business innovations. Representing an exciting moment in the genesis of the new creative economy, we are proud to be showcasing some of the top emerging names in contemporary Irish Fashion Design.
Fashion BreakThrough aims to create an accessible, unique platform for fresh design expertise via a vibrant fringe event that accentuates all that is exceptional in the art of Irish Fashion. The purpose of the project is to keep young designers connected, to provide a high profile showcase for some outstanding work and to promote sustainable Irish Fashion. Positioning ourselves at the creative vanguard in Irish style, our vision is for a reinvented, reinvigorated domestic fashion scene that will bring something strong and surprising to the international stage.
6 DAY POP UP BOUTIQUE
Celebrations kick off on August 17 with the opening of a chic pop up boutique on Cow's Lane, Temple Bar, or six full days of commerce. Fashion BreakThrough is thrilled to have secured a grand scale corner unit with floor-to-ceiling windows for this-right in the creative hub of bustling Old Town. It's the perfect place to show of the Autumn/Winter 2009 collections of some of Ireland's most promising new-name and emerging designers.
- Featuring current Autumn/Winter 2009 collections
- Set up on Sunday 16th.
- Opening hours: 10am – 6pm Monday - Saturday. Late night opening on Thursday 8pm.
(Hours are flexible and can be extended to late night or earlier opening times). - Each designer will be allocated with approx a meter space for a rail. As of yet, rails are not automatically provided by Fashion BreakThrough.
- Each designer must participate in a time share timetable in manning the pop up, this will allow everyone not having to be present everyday.
- End of week opening night to take place n the pop up. (TO BE CONFIRMED)
LIVE FASHION SHOW
Fashion BreakThrough has taken a radical approach to August 18's catwalk extravaganza. Such a dazzlingly diverse book of designers shouldn't be fenced in - so we're going al fresco, bringing the catwalk to the side walk for an outdoor Fashion Show in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar. Styled by sartorial sorceress, Angela Scanlon, the show will feature next season's Spring/Summer offerings - all in an elegant marquee in this auspicious location. The social highlight of the week, this event is sure to attract the city's most stylish and savy.
• Featuring 2010 Spring/Summer collections, there will also be a spot for current collections and rising fresh new talent featured in the pop up boutique.
• Each designer who showcases next season spring/summer collections in the trade section is required to present 6-8 full outfits for the show, this is a great opportunity to showcase your work as it will stand alone.
• Garments must be ready by Sunday 16th of August and dropped into the pop up boutique.
• Each designer will receive one complimentary ticket.
• Fashion show will e photographed by Richie Stokes and videoed as well.
TRADE SHOW
• Two day trade section. (Location and Date to be confirmed).
• Personalised invitations will be distributed to buyers and press.
• Featuring next season's Spring/Summer 2010 collections.
• Although Fashion BreakThrough will do its best in promoting each event to the best of its ability, it is down to each designer to contact buyers for viewing appointments.
