Dublin City Enterprise Board Trained Over 1,000 People in 2007

Over 1,000 have availed of DCEB training in 2007.Thanks to the generous contribution from FAS, an extensive range of high quality professional training is available at a low cost.

The Dublin City Enterprise Board business training programme for 2008 will include extra Start Your Own Business courses and a new course, Growing a Business for Women. Announcing the programme, Mr. Greg Swift, CEO, Dublin City Enterprise Board, said that the cost of the courses would be subsidised by an average of 70% by FAS, thereby making it possible to offer fully professional courses at very low cost to participants. “The fact that our courses cost from between €150 and €200 has been made possible by FAS, who recognise as we do, the vital importance of ongoing training for start up and growing businesses, Mr. Swift said. The business training programme consists of 10 different courses and 17 training modules on different subjects held over one half-day. The training modules, also heavily subsidised by FAS, cost participants just €40. All courses are FETAC accredited and therefore, participants may gain credits to higher qualifications. In response to demand, there will be at least 12 Start Your Own Business courses (€200) held in 2008. Growing a Business courses (€200) will be held twice during the year. Other courses include: Sales & Marketing (€175), three courses; Financial Management (€200), three courses; Management Development (€175), two courses; New Product/Service Development (€175), four courses; Business Ideas Generation Workshops (€150), seven workshops; Commercial Website Development (€150), four courses. The special interests of women are catered for in Women Entering Business (€200), and this course will be held at least twice during 2008. In recognition that many women own and manage successful businesses a new course Growing a Business for Women (€200) is being introduced and will be held at least twice next year. The half-day training modules cover topics and will be held throughout the year. The topics include: Understanding Taxation; Sales & Selling; ; Understanding Taxation; Time Management; Strategic Planning; Financial Control; Marketing on a Shoestring; Internet Marketing; Time Management; Winning Tenders; Credit Control; Health & Safety for Small Businesses; Customer Care; Writing a Business Plan; Funding Your Business; Effective Market Research; Costing & Pricing Full details of all courses and modules may be obtained from the Dublin City Enterprise Board website www.dceb.ie Participants may book online.
