Entrepreneur Network Launched for DCU Alumni

DCU Alumni, supported by Dublin City Enterprise Board, is launching an Entrepreneur Network on Thursday, 23rd February at 7pm in the Lounge, Albert College, DCU.


 The professional networking event will feature successful alumni entrepreneurial speakers and an open discussion with alumni and students from the Entrepreneurial & Social society. DCU Alumni speakers include:
• Aodhan Cullen, Businessweek Young European Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 and Founder of web analysis firm StatCounter
• Piero Tintori founder and CEO of TERMINALFOUR, a leading provider of enterprise web content management software
• Eibhlin Curley, Assistant Chief Executive of Dublin City Enterprise Board and DCU graduate
• Colin Cunningham, DCU Alumni Council Member and Founder of Vilicom

The DCU Alumni Entrepreneur Network aids entrepreneurs through professional networking and links with Dublin City University, creating a forum in which established and would-be entrepreneurs can share expertise in knowledge creation, practical experiences, and share in the excitement and risks of creating and managing new enterprises. The aim of the network is to provide a forum for entrepreneurs and business people to collaborate share information and ideas on doing business in Ireland and abroad. Students in the Entrepreneurial & Society are invited to the network.

DCU Alumni Profile: Aodhan Cullen, Chief Executive of StatCounter

Dublin born Aodhan Cullen, founder and chief executive of web analysis firm StatCounter, was named as the Businessweek Young European Entrepreneur of the Year 2007. StatCounter, which provides free web site traffic statistics, has 1.4m members 40% of which are located in the US. 24 year old Aodhan Cullen started the business when he was 16. Cullen has managed to build Statcounter into one of the most popular web analytical services and web sites in the world.

Cullen, a graduate in 2004 of DCU, was always interested in running a business. At the age of 12 he set up a business typing CVs. He then got into developing web sites. From here the idea for StatCounter was born.

DCU Alumni Profile: Piero Tintori, Chief Executive of TerminalFour

Piero Tintori is founder and CEO of TERMINALFOUR, a leading provider of enterprise web content management software which specializes in content management projects for medium to large public and commercial bodies.

The DCU Computer Applications graduate founded the company in 1996 and has deployed CMS solutions in the US, Europe and the Middle East. Since then, he has led TERMINALFOUR to achieve a market leading position through deploying successful Content Management projects for many hundreds of organizations. Piero’s successful ten years in content management is reflected in TERMINALFOUR’s listing in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 for the past six consecutive years.

DCU Alumni Council Member: Colin Cunningham, Founder of Vilicom

Colin Cunningham graduated from DCU in 1996 with a BEng in Electronic Engineering. He also held the position of DCU Student Union president from 1996 to 1997. Colin founded Vilicom and since 1999 he has spearheaded Vilicom’s growth and success. In November 2005, he participated in an Irish trade delegation to Australia with the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin TD. Prior to setting up Vilicom, Colin was a principal engineer with Esat Digifone and responsible for the management of network quality issues. He is a member of Engineers Ireland – the Institution of Engineers in Ireland.
