Fashion in the City
Motorola Dublin Fashion Week (MDFW) kicks off next week from Monday 25th to Wednesday 27th February, 9am – 6pm daily. The exhibition space (open to press and trade only) takes place in the new Radisson SAS Hotel on Golden Lane in Dublin’s City Centre.
This biannual event attracts local, national and international buyers and press. Due to public demand, MDFW will be staging a collective fashion show, which, for the first time, will be open to the public and will be staged in The chq Building in the IFSC, Dublin 1. The evening kicks off with a Moet & Chandon Champagne Reception, followed by some of Ireland’s top Designers including John Rocha, Quin & Donnelly and our own Heather Finn, J Rothwell and MoMuse (Margaret O'Rourke in the photo) to name but a few unveiling their Spring Summer 08 collections. This season’s Talks sees an exciting line up providing insight into the Fashion Industry with key speakers such as Fashion designer Peter O’Brien, Group Buying Director for Brown Thomas Stephen Sealey, Model Manager Uwe Herzstein from FM Model Agency, London and DCEB’s ‘Ten Steps to Starting Your Own Fashion Business’. “The TALKS”, a series of short presentations in a Q&A format are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC (tickets €5) and are on a first come, first served basis. These will also take place at The Radisson Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin 8.
Monday February 25th

Designer floor open to press and buyers ONLY showcasing Autumn Winter 2008 collections at The Radisson SAS Royal Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin 8.
6pm: The Talks –open to the public
Stephen Sealey, Group Buying Director for Brown Thomas, will be sharing his wealth of experience in the industry.
Tuesday February 26th
9am – 6pm: Trade Show
Designer floor open to press and buyers ONLY showcasing Autumn Winter 2008 collections at the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin 8.
1pm: The Talks – open to the public
Uwe Herzstein, Model Manager, formerly head of IMG’s London office, will be discussing the fashion business and scouting new talent.
7:30pm: The Collective Show – public event
MDFW presents The Collective Fashion Show @ The chq Building, IFSC Dublin 1. 12 designers and labels to showcase the Spring Summer 08 collections for the first of its kind to be open to the public as part of MDFW.
Wednesday February 27th

Dublin City Enterprise Board presenting “10 Steps to Starting Your Own Fashion Business ”

Noted fashion designer, Peter O’Brien, will be sharing his thoughts and expertise with those interested in learning more about the creative process.
