Ever consider hiring a DCU student for a work placement? It can be a cost effective way to complete projects, provide cover for leave periods, and to check out potential graduate hires.
You will have direct access to 1,000 highly skilled students annually from 32 degree programmes in the Sciences, Computing, Engineering, Business Studies and Humanities fields.
Full details of how to get involved, plus a list of participating degree programmes and their work placement schedules can be found at www.dcu.ie/intra.
What will it cost?
The only cost is the salary. Salaries start at the Irish adult minimum wage (€8.65 per hour, around €18K p.a.) up to what you would expect to pay a graduate in the particular discipline. There is no cost involved in the process of hiring an INTRA student.
How much time will I have to give?
Your INTRA student should be part of the regular cohort of staff within your organisation. The University recommends that you provide an induction and any necessary training at the start and that they have a supervisor or mentor for the duration of the internship.
What about visa requirements and accommodation?
The student, in conjunction with the University will organise any visa necessary to complete a work placement in your country. For internship visas for the U.S., you may be required to provide a work plan for the student as part of the visa application.
Sample work plans are available at www.ciee.org
