INDUSTRY RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT GROUP

The Industry Research and Development Group (IRDG) is an independent not-for-profit representative group for organisations engaged in product and process research development and innovation (RD&I).

They represent all sectors of industry including electronics, telecommunications, financial services, food, software, engineering, healthcare, plastics, etc. They are funded by members’ annual subscriptions.
The main roles of IRDG are to provide advice and assistance to members on RD&I matters. They help members to develop RD&I strategies and plans, prepare project proposals for funding and guide them through the evaluation processes. They also provide assistance and advice on R&D Tax Credits and the Patent Royalty Scheme.
IRDG ensures that RD&I remains high on the national agenda, that their members are fully informed on what is happening on RD&I matters, that their views are represented to Government and the Development Agencies and that there is funding available to support individual companies.
They deliver for our members. All members have been successful in gaining RD&I funds. The average grant for an IRDG member is €300k. We estimate that IRDG members have accessed €150m - €200m in RD&I funding since we were set up in 1992.
IRDG has recently established the IRDG Enterprise Innovation Network (EIN) with funding from Enterprise Ireland. Via the EIN, IRDG will promote RD&I to companies of all sizes in Ireland and will significantly increase the number of companies supported by IRDG over the lifetime of the EIN which runs from 2009-2012.
