Start Your Own Business - Ilac Library

This free course runs in the Central Library, Ilac Centre in association with Dublin City Enterprise Board.

Topics include business practice and grants, as well as insights into the cyber space working environment. It will include information and guidelines for a pan-European marketplace, and explore the concept of sales without language barriers or frontiers. It should prove to be a new and dynamic programme, reflecting the young, vibrant, and culturally diverse population that is Dublin today.
 
Introduction 
Open to all, for the benefit of all, entrepreneurs are invited to share the business knowledge, the insights, the experience and potential networks needed to generate new businesses in the Credit Crunch. Best selling author Ron Immink will give a series of talks on setting up a small business in challenging times. His experience working with start up SMEs, government agencies and International Organizations will be explored through a series of Lectures in the Central Library ILAC Centre, starting on Thursday 14th October, at 6pm.The course will last for 6 weeks. Booking is essential, and all are welcome.

All Lectures are on Thursdays, starting a 6pm sharp, except the last half day workshop

Thursday evenings and 1 Saturday

  • 15 October - Starting a business, where to start
  • 22nd October - Innovation and idea generation for new and existing businesses
  • 29th October - Starting and running a business in the current economic climate, tips
    from the trenches
  • 5 November No marketing without E-marketing
  • 12 November - Sell, sell, sell (the new fundraising)
  • Saturday 21 November, 10am - 1pm - Strategy, storytelling and business planning workshop

Speakers:
Ron Immink
Ron is the author of a large range of best selling publications on business planning, start-up, and strategy for SMEs. He works as a consultant for the OECD and the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development and has extensive international consultancy and training experience working with start-ups, SME's, Governments and enterprise support organizations. www.smallbusinesscan.com
 
Greg Byrne
Provides strategic marketing planning support to the high-potential entrepreneur community in Ireland as well as supporting the dedicated community resource - www.marketing4entrepreneurs.com. He lectures in entrepreneurial marketing and is the author of "The Winning Marketing Decisions that grow a Business - How successful Entrepreneurs do it".
 
Fionan Murray
Fionan was CEO of Let Systems, which led to global market leadership in operations management software. He completed the Leadership4Growth executive management course for Ireland's high potential entrepreneurs at the Stanford Business School in California, and is a trained journalist with the Mirror Group of Newspapers in London where he specialised in Finance and Technology.
