Stress Management & Well-being for Entrepreneurs

Stress Management & Well-being for Entrepreneurs

Friday, 27th February is Work Life Balance Day. Dublin City Enterprise Board are running a workshop to help cope with the challenging times that we are all facing.

This session aims to provide entrepreneurs with the knowledge to recognise symptoms of strain in themselves and others; and with some techniques for developing resilience, addressing the sources of strain and maintaining well-being.

Seminar Outline

Developing self-awareness: raising self-awareness about strengths and weaknesses to assess ability to perform to maximum ability at work.Causes & consequences of stress: using the research literature to develop awareness of what stress is, which factors can contribute to it and what the impact of stress is on both the individual and the organisation.

Flow: using the positive psychology concept of flow to look at how optimum performance can be achieved by balancing skill level with the challenges at work. Use of a worksheet exercise to diagnose which state the participant is currently in and what changes they might need to make to their work situation to move towards flow.

The role of emotions: using Fredrickson’s broaden and build theory to highlight how emotions can be used to resist and counteract stressful situations through the development of positive emotions and rejection of negative emotions.

The Clover Model: introduction to Pearn Kandola’s Clover Model of well-being which will help participants to manage stress by balancing social, psychological and situational factors in their lives.
