There is a growing awareness that Irish businesses need to focus on the area of work life balance, issues such as greater female participation in the workforce, increased commuting times, incidents of stress and work related illness are some of the things that will continue to have an impact employees and employers into the future.

The aim of this seminar is to explore the benefits of implementing a work life balance policy for employers and to highlight the government scheme (The National Framework Committee for Work-Life Balance) to support SMEs in the development of a planned and systematic approach to work life balance. Under this scheme, an experienced consultant can be made available to work with small to medium sized enterprises in developing and implementing work life balance policies and arrangements. The National Framework Committee for Work-Life Balance Policies was established under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness and continued under Sustaining Progress on the recommendation of the Social Partners. The Committee comprises representatives from IBEC, ICTU, the Equality Authority, a number of Government Departments and is chaired by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and EmploymentThis year the National Framework Committee is working with regionally based partnerships and assisting them to organize events in their locality, Ballymun Partnership is the organisation in this area promoting Work-Life Balance Day.

Polaris HR Ltd (Swords, Co Dublin) is on the panel of consultants selected by the National Framework Committee to assist employers under the scheme.
