The exciting calendar of events for 2011 Year of Craft continues with jewellery and accessory exhibitions, sculpture exhibitions, basketmaking workshop, glass fusion courses and Culture Night 2011.
Organised by the Crafts Council of Ireland, events running throughout Dublin include the Best of Graduate Design Exhibition, The Adornment Collective and Locker13.
Craft Master, a new and upcoming programme commencing on RTÉ One on Tuesday the 6th of September showcases and celebrates the work of 15 different craftspeople over a period of 6 weeks. The participants come from a varied range of backgrounds and experience and will embark on a creative journey in ceramics, glass blowing, wood turning, textile weaving and metalwork. There will be a winner chosen every week with the overall winner announced in the final on Tuesday 11th October.
Sonya Lennon, presenter of the show was also involved in Designer Dublin in June of this year which was organised by the Dublin City Enterprise Board.
The Institute of Designers in Ireland presents Best of Graduate Design Exhibition 2011. This exciting event will showcase a selection of the very best design work from graduates of over 22 third level design courses all across Ireland. The exhibition will be held in the National College of Art and Design Gallery until the 5th of November.
Another highlight from the Year of Craft 2011 is Locker13 which is running until the 25th of September at the Royal Hibernian Academy Pop-up shop. The pop-up shop will display a range of work from upcoming creatives including furniture makers, product and fashion designers, jewellers and milliners.
