One of the key aims of the site is to enable communities to get online and the site provides free services including email (@dublin.ie), web site building tools, events calendar, bulletin boards, etc. The objective of the Dublin City Development Board through the Dublin.ie project is that Dublin will be a city that harnesses the power of communications technology to connect and inform people, create opportunities and tackle social exclusion. The site has evolved since its inception in 2002 to become a true city portal for the capital and resulted from interaction between various agencies including board members and other stakeholders.
