Design Professionals Join Forces for Designer Dublin

A month-long series of trails, talks, demonstrations and workshops in June, Designer Dublin was created by the Dublin City Enterprise Board to highlight the creative talents of designers and makers across the Capital to mark 2011 as Year of Craft.

Programme highlights include a free Craft Studio Trail for the public on Friday, June 10th, involving over twenty workshops and studios, in addition to a ‘Lunch with the Masters’ talk with Paul Costelloe, Peter O’ Brien and Deirdre McQuillan on the same day.
Stylist and broadcaster, Sonya Lennon, was on hand to announce the screening of her visual poem at the European Union House.  Entitled: ‘Dais,’ the screenings will take place between June 1st and 14th, alongside a photographic exhibition of jewellery and craftsmanship.

Speaking at the programme launch today, Eibhlin Curley, Assistant CEO of the Dublin City Enterprise Board said: “As we enter the half-way point for ‘Year of Craft’, June is an ideal month for the public to find out more about our talented designers and artisans, here on our doorstep. Many of the participating designers are offering customer discounts for the Craft Studio Trail and a €1,500 prize draw, so there has never been a better time to buy, or to commission, Irish craft in the city,” she said.
