Final Countdown to National Women’s Enterprise Day

Final Countdown to National Women’s Enterprise Day

It's National Women's Enterprise Day this Thursday and the Dublin City Enterprise Board are jointly organising a major conference and exhibition in Portlaoise that day.

Mentoring clinics, networking sessions and a social media workshop will also be available to women in business on the eve of National Women’s Enterprise Day, November 16th.

The events of both days will take place in the Heritage Hotel in Portlaoise where it is expected that over 200 female entrepreneurs will attend.

A social media workshop with Damien Mulley from Mulley Communications, will take place at 3pm on November 16th and will be followed by the social networking case studies of four women in business. These are Emer McCormack from Just-Eat.ie, Karen O’ Sullivan from the Talbot Hotel in Carlow, Lorna Sixsmith from Garrendenny Lane Interiors and Tara Wilson-Black from Irishwomeninbusiness.ie.

A Facebook study from Mulley Communications found that people spend over 500 billion minutes a month on Facebook. It is estimated that there are about 1.3 million Irish users on Facebook and almost one million of these log on to the social network daily (Feb 2010).

Joan Burton T.D., Minister for Social Protection, is the guest speaker on November 16th, following a formal networking event facilitated by Mary Ann McDonagh of Payback Solutions. It will be an evening of beneficial networking for Dublin City female entrepreneurs, focused on building professional networks that will benefit business.

Tickets for National Women’s Enterprise Day cost €100 and are available to purchase through www.nwed.ie.

Co-funded by the Social Fund with support from the Department of Justice and Equality through the Equality for Women Measure, the aim of National Women’s Enterprise Day is to give national recognition to the role of female entrepreneurship.

Updates on the conference are available from the National Women’s Enterprise Day Facebook page and from Twitter at www.twitter.com/nwed.
