July Event: Dublin City Enterprise Network for Women

July Event: Dublin City Enterprise Network for Women

The July Event for the Dublin City Enterprise Network for Women takes place on 12th July in the Clarion Hotel in the IFSC.

The next event of the Dublin City Enterprise Network for Women will feature a talk on “How to network yourself and increase business!”. The talk will be followed by networking over wine and finger food.  This is a special summer event for members of Dublin City Enterprise Board’s networks.

Speaker:  Marc Thornton, MD of DTA Marketing
Time and Date:  Monday 12th July 2010   6.45-9pm
Venue:   Clarion Hotel IFSC

When you were young, your parents probably told you not to speak to strangers. Now as you go to functions and networking events it is vital that you do talk to strangers! And it is not easy.  Most people, when they go to functions, look out for someone they know and then hang around them like a lost puppy for the rest of the evening, or better still stick to a work colleague! On reflection you might say  - “that wasn’t a good function” or “ I’m not joining that organisation as I don’t think I will get any business”.

Networking is probably the most cost effective marketing and selling activity you will do. The better known you are, the better chance of being asked to quote for work.

At the July event of the Dublin City Enterprise Network for Women, an initiative of Dublin City Enterprise Board (www.dceb.ie), Marc Thornton, MD of DTA Marketing will give practical tips on how to get more from networking.  This session will go through the fundamentals of networking and you will learn how to make the most of your time spent at events and generate opportunities for new business.

Topics will include:

- the role of networking as part of your marketing strategy
- marketing support material needed to back up networking
- preparing for networking
- 60 second pitches – “elevator pitch”
- first impressions
- remembering names
- social media networking
-  the 12 secrets to effective networking!

Don’t forget to bring your business cards!

The talk will be followed by networking over wine and finger food.  This event will be open to members of other DCEB networks so it will be a great opportunity to make new contacts.

To register please email netowrk manager Pauline Logan at network@dceb.ie before 5pm on Friday 9th July.  Numbers may need to be restricted so please register as early as possible.
