Brief Programme Description

This is a two and a half hour programme that focuses on assertiveness and confidence. It introduces techniques to assert oneself in business situations and expands on how to project confidence when faced with unexpected challenges. Any person needing to increase self-belief and ability to think quickly on the spot would benefit from this workshop.

Aims of the Programme

  • Help to improve personal effectiveness and to develop assertiveness
  • To learn how to project confidence in communicating with others
  • To know how to express ideas and present information with confidence
  • To gain an understanding of the impact non-verbal communication has on people

  • What is assertiveness and confidence?
  • How assertiveness and confidence differ?
  • Behavioural styles
  • Identify the barriers to assertive behaviour
  • Dealing with difficult situations
  • E.g. Handling emotions and difficult behaviour
  • Using self-analysis:
  • Interactive exercises and role play
  • Practical techniques: How to be assertive and overcome barriers?

Outcomes

This course will help participant how to behave assertively, achieve and portray a strong, confident positive image as well as to create effective team building - which are all essential ingredients for success.

Brief background on Trainer

The trainer for this workshop is Penny Withey, BA MSc. She has an extensive experience in coaching and mentoring individuals requiring personal development, addressing specific, identified needs  as well as in training management intervention including HR and Communication/Assertiveness workshops in-house and with mixed group public courses.
